Call for Papers: Women in Violence – 30.09.2025

Ruch Prawniczy, Ekonomiczny i Socjologiczny [Poznań Journal of Law, Economics and Sociology], in collaboration with the guest editors Aneta Ostaszewska, Patrycja Sosnowska-Buxton and Justyna Tomczyk, invite scholarly articles that engage with the theme of Women in Violence.

Violence against women is a multidimensional phenomenon that encompasses both individual experiences and broader structural, legal, and institutional mechanisms of oppression embedded in society. This issue focuses on women as victims and witnesses of various forms of violence – physical, psychological, sexual, economic, and symbolic. It aims to provide critical reflection on the complexity of these experiences and their socio-cultural, legal, and economic contexts.

Suggested thematic areas include, but are not limited to:

  1. domestic, institutional, and systemic violence against women
  2. women as victims and witnesses of violence – social and media narratives
  3. violence against women as a challenge to contemporary legal systems – analysis of legal frameworks in Poland and the European Union
  4. violence against women in public and digital spaces
  5. economic violence and the feminisation of poverty
  6. migration, armed conflict, and gender-based violence
  7. feminist, postcolonial, and queer theoretical approaches to the study of violence
  8. addressing violence against women as a component of gender equality policy

We particularly welcome contributions from scholars in sociology, law, economics, and related disciplines. Interdisciplinary approaches are especially welcome.

Papers should be written in English and should be in line with our requirements (submission guidelines available HERE). While the manuscripts can be between 40,000 and 60,000 characters long (spaces, footnotes, tables, figures, abstracts and reference list included), due to large number of expected papers, we would prefer them not to be longer than 45,000 characters. The manuscript and all obligatory attachments should be submitted via our ONLINE PLATFORM. Important information regarding the review process can be found at OUR WEBPAGE – please read them before submitting the paper. The deadline for the submission is September 30, 2025.
